Bulls & Brides : The Wedding and Honeymoon (2006-7)

These works investigate the fascinating space which often exists between our idealistic expectations of weddings and marriage and the reality of the varied roles we assume.

"Congratulations to the Happy Couple" (2006) is a sculptural group consisting of two pieces: the Groom, who is portrayed as a bull, and the Bride, who is hiding coyly beneath a veil of flowers. Approx.: Groom - 34x35x48cm, Bride - 37x34x33cm.

"The Honeymoon Suite" (2007) is a series of 7 groups which further develop the relationship between the Bull and Bride. Each of the works celebrates a day of a week-long honeymoon. They are all approximately 30cm tall.

All pieces are made from earthenware clay, glazed with vitreous slips and finished with epoxy resin and acrylic.
